When it comes to sports, Selena Williams, Saina Nehwal and Bill Russell come into our mind and it’s fair as they have worked so hard and have their own struggles in their life. But when it comes to basketball, an American basketball player ‘ SUE BIRD ‘ has reserved her name as the greatest player in the list of WNBA ( Women’s national basketball association.) and also won the titles in the three different decades.
Her full name is ” Suzanne Brigit Bird “, born in Syosset, New York, United States but she has a citizenship of Israel also on the side of her father as he is a Jewish. Therefore she plays for her home country that is for U.S international tournaments as well as the Olympic.
Despite playing basketball Sue bird also plays soccer, tennis and track and field. Sue bird started playing basketball when she was in sixth grade. With her absolute perfect skills she played in her school life and won the title of ‘ New York State Player of the Year ‘ and also ‘ The New York Daily New Player of the Year ‘. When she was in her high school she spent the four years playing with all her efforts and also won many accolades.
PERSONAL LIFE :
Sue bird grew up with her parents named, Herschel Bird ( father) and Nancy Bird as her ( mother) also she has her elder sister named Jen bird. Also she revealed her relationship with the soccer player Megan Rapinoe. she also declared that she is a lesbians theirfore I don’t think so it’s big issue. One should accept the way we are. Whereas, rapinoe is a professional soccer on and off player.
ACHIEVEMENTS :
Bird is always a kind, and social person who helped others to get better and played well. In 2020 she played national where bird score 4.3 per game. in 2003-4 she was named 2004 women Olympic Basketball team and won gold in it. With her journey from 2006-2010 she won another gold medal. Sue bird was also invited to the USA Basketball Women’s National Team training camp in 2009.
The whole team got a chance to appear in Olympic 2012 and moved to Ekaterinburg, Russia, as it’s the main destination for WNBA. In 2010, when team was coached by Geno Auriemma when bird was selected as a member of the National team member. In 2012, the Americans won their fifth gold medal when Bird completed her 2012 summer Olympics. The astounding victory continued by defeating Spain by 77-64 and won her sixth gold in 2016.
As it was an honour for her as she has been selected for flag hoisting in the opening ceremony of the Tokyo Olympic 2020. But due to covid-19 it has been delayed. thus, her list of achievements have a long list.

There are many who rival the success of Bird but her success she has shed many tears and the biggest reason of her retirement is she underwent a surgery in her left-knee and due to her ageing she came up to the decision. A serial winner played her last game of WNBA seattle storm,in home loss ( Las Vegas ) ended the game with score of 92-97 therefore is unable to let her team win the match but despite her 20 years of career, she is the best and the most beloved basketball player and remains.
The crowd is around 14,162 people who gather to watch her final and last game, as a way to say bye to her. Jen Rizzotti mentioned that she is a well respected girl which is extremely difficult for any sports person to be so calm despite their dignity and fame. Where her other teammates also appreciate her as she is such an unselfish woman who’s always ready to help her peers.
