Liz Cheney Lost To A Trump-backed Challenger, Biden Called Her.
Following Liz Cheney’s loss in the Republican primary in her state of Wyoming on Wednesday, President Joe Biden contacted the outspoken opponent of former President Donald Trump.
According to a person with knowledge of the exchange, Biden contacted Cheney, who enraged the former president by supporting his impeachment for his involvement in the uprising of January 6, 2021 and her subsequent work on the congressional committee looking into the event.
The White House chose not to respond. Requests for comment regarding the call were not immediately answered by a Liz Cheney spokesman.

Cheney declared that she will do “everything it takes” to obstruct the former president’s way back to the White House following her defeat by Trump-backed conservative lawyer Harriet Hageman by a margin of 37 points on Tuesday night.
“I think fighting him is going to need a broad and united front of Republicans, Democrats, and independents, and that’s what I want to be a part of,” Cheney told NBC News. “I feel that Donald Trump continues to pose a very dangerous threat — a risk to our republic.”
The daughter of former vice president Dick Cheney, the 56-year-old is serving her third term in Wyoming’s lone US House district. She has stated that she is thinking of running for president in the upcoming months in order to oppose Trump’s anticipated candidacy.
Only two of the ten House Republicans who supported Trump’s impeachment after the Capitol attack will run for office again. Four of them, including Cheney, lost in Republican primary elections, while another four have declared their retirement.
Cheney was present at the White House event last month when Biden presented the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the country’s highest civilian honour, to former senator Alan Simpson, a fellow Republican from Wyoming.
