Before the final episodes of Better Call Saul start streaming on Netflix on July 12th, learn some startling facts about the show, such as how to make the perfect Cinnabon and find some secret codes.
Better call saul episodes began as a joke between producers, but it has now grown to be one of the most watched spin-offs ever and one of the rare sister shows that fans enjoy as much as the original.
The much awaited better call saul new season episods have now arrived on Netflix, but the final six shows will still be released in weekly instalments every Tuesday between 12 July and 16 August, giving you time to binge-watch seasons 1 through 5 and the first half of season 6 to catch up on the action.

1. Better Call Saul was supposed to be a comedy.
In season 2 of Breaking Bad, the idea for a Saul Goodman spin-off first appeared as a casual remark, which then developed into a larger idea.

Saul Goodman tells Walter White in episode 15 of the fifth and final season of Breaking Bad, “If I’m lucky, month from now, best case scenario, I’m managing a Cinnabon in Omaha.”
In fact, Saul, aka Gene, finds himself working in a Cinnabon in Omaha, Nebraska, in the black-and-white sequences that conclude each season after departing Albuquerque.
3. Baking Bad
Bob Odenkirk learned how to manufacture authentic Cinnabon buns in order to make Gene even more genuine. To ensure he could do it properly on camera, he was instructed by a representative from the Cinnabon corporate headquarters in a genuine bakery. The Cinnabon sequences were filmed using actual Cinnabon employees.
4. Just because you have paranoia doesn’t indicate that someone isn’t looking for you.
Gene, as seen in the flash forwards, is not the loud, self-assured figure that Saul Goodman was. He may have solid grounds for being pessimistic and depressed.
The rude man in season 5 episode 1 who recognised Gene as Saul in the mall was also the cab driver who picked him up from the hospital in episode 1 of season 4; the same cab driver who also had an Albuquerque air freshener in his taxi. This may have been observed by keen viewers. Gene might not be as fearful after all.
5. The animals at the vet’s office resemble their owners.
Shady veterinarian Dr. Caldera, played by comedian Joe Derosa, may have criminal tendencies, but he is also a committed veterinarian. All of the legitimate pet owners we observe in his waiting area have chosen animals that closely resemble them.
Jimmy, on the other hand, has a goldfish that some have speculated may somehow symbolise the character: might Slippin’ Jimmy be a slippery fish? “Jimmy’s control over his more naive side was symbolised by the fish. The website Showbiz Cheatsheet theorises that in this way, it might symbolise his conscience.
6. The episode titles reveal hidden information
Each of the episode names has a unique significance. For instance, in the second season, each title’s initial letter contained a secret message.
Peter Gould explained to Vanity Fair in his interview:
The words “Fring’s Back” were coded into the episode titles, which seemed like a pretty brilliant concept to us, he claimed.
Fans of the show were able to figure it out considerably sooner than the writers anticipated.
“We anticipated revealing it perhaps sometime this summer. We must have seriously undervalued the intelligence and effort of our fans, Gould said.
7. In season 4, the timelines of Better Call Saul and Breaking Bad cross.
It’s a widespread misconception that Breaking Bad will start up where Better Call Saul leaves off, but in reality, a flash-forward in season four’s episode five has already spanned the histories of both shows. Fortunately, filmmakers were able to locate the original set of Saul Goodman’s office. However, they had some difficulty replicating the plaster that covered Saul’s nose when Jesse hit him in Breaking Bad.
One for the film buffs: Since Breaking Bad was exclusively shot on film, this sequence was likewise shot on film to give the impression that it is a part of the Breaking Bad timeline.
8. Both michael mando McKean and Bob Odenkirk have comedic backgrounds.
Bob Odenkirk, who performs as stand-up comedy and as a funny actor, is Saul Goodman himself. Before playing Jimmy, Jimmy had never been such a serious figure.
In the classic 1984 rockumentary This is Spinal Tap, David St. Hubbins, lead vocalist of Spinal Tap, is portrayed by Michael McKean, who also plays Jimmy’s brother Chuck. The usage of these comedic actors was discussed by Vince Gilligan in an interview with The Guardian.

9. How does Ice Station Zebra work?
Here’s one for all you conspiracy theorists. Saul Goodman has Badger, played by Matt Jones, fill out a check to associates of Ice Station Zebra in the first episode of Breaking Bad, telling them it is a holding firm he uses for his money.
Jimmy and Kim, played by Rhea Seehorn, watch the real-life movie Ice Station Zebra in Better Call Saul season 2 episode 3, then in episode 6 of the same season, when slippin jimmy and Kim have pulled off a con, we see Kim clutching a check made out to Ice Station Zebra associates. At the time, it seems like this is just for fun, but does this business become established in the final season? If so, who is the company’s founder and leader by the time of Breaking Bad?
This, according to Screenrant.com, could account for Kim’s absence from Breaking Bad.
They speculate that Kim running Ice Station Zebra Associates covertly while working closely with Jimmy would neatly explain her disappearance from Breaking Bad.
10. The pals that Better Call Saul has are quite influential.
Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul (patrick fabian) are also favourites of multibillionaire Warren Buffett. He discusses the Breaking Bad season finale and includes a picture of himself costumed as the show’s protagonist Walter White in one of the 10 tweets he’s ever sent.
Before the programme ever started, Buffett was a fan. The philanthropist and investor paid a visit to the Better Call Saul set in 2015 as the first season was being filmed, even enveloping himself in Chuck’s foil blanket.

The fact that Gene is hiding out in Omaha, which is conveniently located 700 miles from Albuquerque, is also a homage to Warren Buffett, dubbed “The Oracle of Omaha.”
